I just wish I'd been able to get it through Steam instead. The menus feel a bit less cobbled together for PC, and mouse aiming actually feels, well, good now (or maybe it's just placebo? Idk). (Also, before I forget, the game seems to only be able to install to the C: drive? Or at least that's what it did for me.)Īnd not to derail the topic much more, but I gotta say, Colonies feels muuuuuuuch nicer than vanilla LP1. Just wanted to mention all this in case anyone else might be wondering about it. The only thing was that Windows 11 didn't like the game's default resolution (it kept taking the game out of focus when I tried clicking into it), so I had to go into the ini file and manually change it to 1440p beforehand.
Didn't even have to do anything about SecuROM on Windows 11, which was a relief. I installed the game without issue, redeemed my key in-game without issue, and it's been smooth sailing so far. Avoiding frustrations and segregating the online player base between the two versions may have influenced Capcom’s decision to remove the original Lost Planet from sale. Colonies includes all of the content from the original game and adds new maps and modes, but its save files and multiplayer progression are not compatible with the older release. No explanation has been given for the removal of the original Lost Planet, however the 2008 release of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies remains available to download on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Previous owners of the disc/digital versions of these titles should still be able to play them on an Xbox One console”.
